How did you tell old distant friends that you faded? Or do you?
by cab1000 inyou all have been so helpful in the past with these things...and i have another "how to deal" question.... ok, we have been faded for a while now.
we have pumkins out for halloween, as well as fun decorations...the problem is..we got an anniversary card today in the mail from some old witness friends where we used to live...they wish they could visit...they are prone to drop by un announced...so..have any of you had any sucess of "warning" old witness friends that you have changed?.
we are still trying not to get disfellowshiped for family reasons.

I think it is good you are thinking about these things now because if you continue displaying things the WT frowns on it won't be long before they confront you on this issue. If you are not ready psychologically to deal with friends and family turning on you I would suggest taking the pumkins and other decorations down till you are ready. Things spread very fast among the witnesses. Once one finds out there is a good chance they all will. For the same reason I wouldn't recommend telling anyone you have changed even to soften the blow until you feel you are ready to deal with an inquistion into your behavior. There is a good chance the elders will show up before your visitors get there.

Believe it or not there is a Watchtower connection with Louis Farahkaan. Around about 1931 Elijah Poole later to be know an Elijah Muhammad came under the infuence of Wallace D Fard. Fard was a peddler of African clothing. He urged his followers to renounce their birth names and take on Muslim names. Under Fard's infuence Elijah renounced the Christian faith of his parents and his birth name. Fard got much of what he had to say about the Christian religion from the Watchtower. Fard actually went from house to house using Watchtower literature to tear down the Christian beliefs held by blacks and replace them with his own warped view of Islamic teachings. The funny thing about this is that Wallace Fard was a white man.

How did that happen. My reply to TS disappeared. I'll try again
TS said:
i try to be nice and loving, but my wife is married to jehovah, not to me. and so, after five years, it's on the fritz. she told me the other day after one of her meetings that she thought it would be good if we separate. and at this point, after really wondering how she can say she loves me but that i will also be destroyed shortly by her real husband, jehovah, that perhaps it is a good idea to split up. plus, believe me when i say, that an atheist and a JW really do not have much meaningful fodder for conversation.
so yes, it did change with my partner when i left.
life sucks sometimes.
ts
Sorry to hear you are going through this. It is hard to deal with when someone is so brainwashed that they choose fantasyland over real friends and family. Often JW ruin their marriage only to realize later how good they had it.
I hope you can work it out. -

Everything works back-arsewards for me. I left the dubs and my wife did not........and we have gotten along better in our marriage ever since......go figure. I....like LittleToe, didn't give my wife a bad time over the witnesses except on a few occations when I first exited. I became myself when I left and didn't pretend over many things any longer .....so I feel she likes the' for real' apostate bastard, better than the dub who lived in a make believe world. I was lucky

I concur, that is just about how it has been with me. -

Good for you. I hate to bring this up but will you have to pay taxes on it? It is a one time shot so use it wisely. I hate to say things like that but it is the way I think about money.
